Prince Charters, LLC offers something for everyone!
Prince Charters, LLC is a family owned and operated business where family values and integrity are core components of our company. Prince Charters was originally founded in 1965 by Captain Doug’s Grandfather, Dr. Gilbert Prince, then pastor of St. James, South Pasadena. Doug and his grandfather shared a special bond and a genuine love for the sea. Doug’s first sailing solo was at age 9, and when he was 12 years old he first crewed for his grandfather. From that day on Captain Doug had a passion to follow in his Grandfather’s footsteps and to continue the family legacy of Prince Charters.
Captain Doug holds a United States Coast Guard Captain 100 Ton Master Mariner License, and our vessels are U.S. Coast Guard certified. Doug and his wife, Donna, love to help their guests create memories to last a lifetime.

Some history of our newest edition:
Journey is a stunning 1968 Hatteras – vintage to the core. Captain Ward Hornblower Proescher and his lovely wife Susan are a beautiful part of Journey’s history. Ward and Susan inscribed Journey inside their wedding bands to remind them of the importance of enjoying the journey towards goals. When they purchased their charming Hatteras boat in the early 1970s, they renamed her Journey. Together Ward and Susan founded Hornblower Yachts, which they ran together until 1980. In 1986, they started Commodore Cruises & Events with Journey. Today, with a fleet of vessels, Commodore Cruise and Events is run by their son, Morgan. Ward and Susan raised their sons, Toby and Morgan in Lafayette, California and enjoyed the beauty of the Bay Area as a family. Ward, lovingly called “Skipper” by his grandchildren, enjoyed spending time with family and friends and, ever the Captain, spent as much time on the water as he could until his passing on April 9, 2015.
Captain Doug and Donna are honored to bring the Proescher’s family history with Journey along with us on our journey through life together.
